A Mixed Examination of Teaching Traditional Lead Climbing in the UK

Plas y Brenin's Director of Learning and Development Dr Loel Collins and Instructor Dave Evans recently presented a workshop to members of the Mountain Training Association. The session looked at the diverse range of issues facing all those involved in coaching lead climbing in the modern sport in the United Kingdom.

Loel presents the results of his research into this issue, as part of his wider, long term studies of judgement and decision making across adventure sport. Dave then follows up with the practical implications of this to all Coaches and Instructors involved in the development of independent lead climbers across the country.
